Ok, so I know that not everyone is a big fan of brown. It is, I have to admit, not my favourite. But I think that is due to a childhood in the 70s and parents that thought mustard and brown were good colour combinations. Anyway, my sister (she got to wear pink and blue) does like brown. I wanted to make her a house warming gift and made this star cushion.
I actually quite like it. I used some Denyse Schmidt prints and a Starflower pattern. I wanted it to be quite sturdy but still soft so used interfacing and batting. I am hoping it will go nicely in my sisters new home.

I think it's lovely and sure it will go perfectly. As a child I had to wear a school uniform which was chocolate brown and golden yellow. Nice!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great and your quilting is awesome:-)
ReplyDeleteOh I love that DS brown. Have some myself! Gorgeous cushion and loving the way you quilted it.
ReplyDeleteit looks wonderful xx I dont have a problem with brown... infact use it quite a lot xx
ReplyDeleteI don't tend to wear a lot of brown or keep a lot of it in my house- but then I see projects like these that make me want to run out and buy a bunch of brown fabric! Lovely pillow :)
ReplyDeleteOh, it is lovely I am sure your sister will like it enormously! My school uniform was blue so no bad memories of brown for me. I do remember brown and orange wallpaper that my parents had when I was young, very headache inducing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute pillow! There are some really nice brown fabrics out there every now and again.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very pretty - even with the brown :) love the quilting.
ReplyDeleteHow well I remember those 70s browns!
